چکیده

In Image-Based Modeling, which reconstructs 3-dimensional structures and extracts a texture from 2-dimensional images, one of the greatest problems is to match feature points of two images. The well-known template matching is used for automatically relating individual points in different images. However, since it matches each image in which a viewpoint position differs, incorrect feature points are often related. In this study, we propose the automatic matching technique of feature points that is not sensitive to parallax. We aim to improve the accuracy of feature point matching by using a projective invariant on a plane surface. In order to calculate the projective invariant, we use collinear four points or coplanar five points. Firstly, in each image corners of objects are picked out as feature points. Next, an edge image is created from the original image. The connective relation of edge points between feature points is measured. All of the collinear four feature points and the five feature points are estimated from the connective relation, and a projective invariant is calculated for each set of points. Finally, all projective invariants of one image are compared to those of another image and feature points with an equal projective invariant are associated. Then we confirm the effectiveness of the proposed technique by the experiments.

3-D Reconstruction Based on Projective Invariants

We present a new projective invariant-based technique for recovering depth information from stereo images. The basic idea of our method is to use intensity segments as primitives for stereo matching. To recover the depth information of intensity segments, two projective invariants are introduced. From the two invariants, we can derive a relation that should be satisfied between the matching pai...

3D Hand Tracking with Stereo Cameras

We propose a method for extracting 3D position and posture of hands with stereo cameras. The main contribution of our research is that our method enables to track the position and posture in mobile environments by using stereo cameras. The hand is often observed with many occluded regions, since the hand has many joints. In previous methods, many cameras are required to extract the position and...

3D Reconstruction of Scale-Invariant Features for Mobile Robot localization

A key component of autonomous navigation of intelligent home robot is localization and map building with recognized features from the environment. To validate this, accurate measurement of relative location between robot and features is essential. In this paper, we proposed relative localization algorithm based on 3D reconstruction of scale invariant features of two images which are captured fr...

A Novel Binary Feature Descriptor for Accelerated Robust Matching

Stereo matching between images is at the base of many computer vision applications. Many traditional image features for matching focus on being robust to view-point changes with huge amount of calculation and memory storage, such as Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT). Binary Robust Independent Elementary Features (BRIEF) is an efficient alternative to traditional SIFT-like features, but i...

Optimizing Disparity Candidates Space in Dense Stereo Matching

In this paper, a new approach for optimizing disparity candidates space is proposed for the solution of dense stereo matching problem. The main objectives of this approachare the reduction of average number of disparity candidates per pixel with low computational cost and high assurance of retaining the correct answer. These can be realized due to the effective use of multiple radial windows, i...
